Provision Of Support To Australian Defence Force In Timor Leste (Formerly East Timor)
PDL Toll, on behalf of the Australian Defence Force, has contracted Aspen Medical to provide medical and dental services to Australian Defence Force Members that are currently based in Timor Leste (Formerly East Timor). Aspen Medical provides services across 4 main areas in Timor Leste. They are:- Clinical and Ancillary Health Care Services, including;
- Primary Care
- Pathology
- Radiology
- Ward Care
- An Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Surgery
- Emergency Care, including resuscitation and ambulance services
- Aeromedical evacuation
- International Medical Retrieval;
- Public and Environmental Health and Health Management;
- Pharmaceuticals, Consumables, and Bloods.
Aspen Medical has been responsible for the healthcare of all Australian, and other contributing nations’ forces, for the deployment to Timor Leste. However, upon special request, and with approval by the Australian Government, Aspen Medical can provide healthcare to individuals outside its normal dependency. This was most clearly demonstrated during the recent shooting of President Jose Ramos Horta in mid February 2008. Aspen Medical took responsibility for President Horta, operating on him for 6 hours, and conducting a range of lifesaving surgery. Aspen Medical then deployed our Aeromedical Evacuation capability from Darwin to Dili to recover the President and fly him to Darwin. On arrival, Aspen Medical’s ambulance and medical team transported the President to Royal Darwin Hospital. This clearly shows Aspen Medical’s ability to provide the highest standards of complete emergency services in remote regions.
