Aspen Medical completes Defence Aero Medical Evacuation support in Western Australia and Northern Territory
Aspen Medical today concluded its Aero Medical Evacuation support of two major Australian Defence Force exercises in the North West shelf of West Australia and the Northern Territory. Conducted over a 2 month period both the exercises required a rapid evacuation service in the unlikely event of an accident, illness or injury.
Aspen Medical’s Managing Director Glenn Keys said, “These types of Defence training activities cannot proceed unless there is Aeromedical Evacuation (AME) support available. Our medical teams are able to provide this AME support to ensure these important training exercises can proceed.”
The medical teams, consisting of an Aero Medical Evacuation trained physician supported by an Intensive Care Paramedic, are on call 24/7 for the entire activity.
“Our selection of helicopters provided us with the necessary platforms from which our medical teams can operate. As we also provide the oil, gas and mining industry with a 24/7 AME medical jet we are able to offer Defence an increased level of fixed wing AME capability should it be required,” said M.r Keys.
Mr. Keys concluded by saying “This short-term tasking was exciting to support. Aspen has also recently established a medical escort service from remote oil and gas rigs off the coast of Australia.
