Aspen Medical provides Obstetrician for Gove Regional Hospital
Relief today for pregnant mothers in the Gove region of the NorthernTerritory was achieved when Obstetric services recommenced at Gove Regional Hospital. Canberra based Aspen Medical was asked by the Northern Territory government to assist in providing a suitably qualified Obstetrician.
With the imminent departure of the current specialist, there was a great concern that the maternity ward would have been shut down and expectant mothers required to commute to Darwin, Northern Territory; a journey of over 1000km each way.
Aspen Medical’s Managing Director Glenn Keys said “Aspen Medical has a demonstrated track record of providing health care services and personnel into the Northern Territory. Our sister organisation, the Remote Area Health Corps (RAHC), commenced operations in December 2008 and has been placing health care professionals to Indigenous Communities across the Northern territory and is on track to achieve well above required targets. ”
“Our Human Resources team threw themselves into the task, searching for a candidate who could meet the credentialing criteria that Aspen Medical requires of all its health care professionals.
In conclusion Mr Keys said “Aspen Medical is committed to serving the health care needs of its clients. We are pleased to have played a small part to ensuring this vital obstetric service is able to continue for the benefit of the local community.”
