West Australia Resources Aeromedical Evacuation Service completes first mission
Aspen Medical today confirmed the first successful mission of the recently launched West Australian Resources Aero Medical Evacuation (WARAME) service.The WARAME service is a dedicated Cessna Citation 550 and an AME medical team permanently based at Karratha Western Australia.
The injured worker, an employee of one of the WARAME members, who was stung by a jellyfish. Although wearing a full body suit and hood he was stung on the only exposed area which was his face. After providing initial first aid it was quickly assessed that he needed to be transported to Perth for additional treatment. In accordance with the established protocols, the WARAME service was activated and the dedicated Cessna Citation, complete with AME personnel, picked up the injured worker who was then flown to Perth’s Sir Charles Gardiner hospital. After a brief period in intensive care he has since been moved into a general ward and is expected to make a full recovery.
