Australian Defence Force AME Operations
Aspen Medical was contracted to provide 24/7 fixed wing AME services in support of a range of Australian Defence Force exercises, including Exercise Talisman Sabre from Timber Creek Airfield to any designated location(s), including Royal Darwin or KatherineBaseHospitals in the Northern Territory, as specified by the Australian Government in the interest of patient care. Aspen Medical achieved this through a complete solution by not only providing the AME team, equipment, consumables and pharmaceuticals, but also the aircraft, the aircrew, all aviation fuel, runway lighting to enable 24 hour operations, and accommodation, travel and meals.
The provision of all elements of the solution, including aircraft and all logistics support, was a first for Aspen Medical and has since led the Australian Defence Force to contract with Aspen for medical retrieval services. Accordingly, Aspen Medical had been awarded a position in the Aeromedical Evacuation panel contract with the Australian Defence Force. The contract requires Aspen Medical and its partners to provide AME capability to the Australian Defence Force for nominated periods across the top end of Australia. Aspen Medical is required to provide AME specialists, aircraft, logistics support and anything else necessary to deliver the task.
Aspen Medical has delivered a large number of AME missions in Northern Australia against this contract, including AME missions from HornIsland and ShellbourneBay.
