Tour de Timor

Photo source: bikeradar.comThe Tour de Timor is one of the world's most gruelling bike challenges. The four day race takes competitors on a 450km adventure around Timor Leste through various terrain. A mix of elite international athletes and other riding enthusiasts take up the challenging experience.

In August 2009 a team of 6 Aspen Medical intensive care paramedics and resuscitation ambulances were on hand to provide immediate aid for participants.

Woodford Folk Festival

The Woodford Folk Festival is a 6 day programme of concerts, dances, film, comedy, workshops, circus, choirs, street theatre and art installations. The festival attracts an aggregate attendance of 120,000 to 130,000 people over the period of the festival, with a daily attendance of approximately 18,000. Aspen Medical provided a Doctor’s Surgery Service for the duration of the festival, which is 8 days. This service included provision of a Doctor, a nurse and a receptionist, and included all the necessary clinic and medical equipment, pharmaceuticals and consumables.
 
Aspen Medical provided this service at short notice to the Woodford Folk Festival, with less than 2 weeks notice over the Christmas period. Aspen Medical has now been engaged for a five year term to be Woodford’s official healthcare provider.

 

2009 UCI Mountain Bike and Trials World Championships

The 2009 UCI Mountain Bike and Trials World Championship took place in Canberra, Australia.

This major sporting event saw elite athletes competing in a sport which is not only exciting to watch but represented a real challenge in providing immediate assistance in the event of a serious injury.

 Aspen’s medical team supported the entire week long event from start to finish. With hundreds of competitors and over 40,000 spectators, the Aspen Medical response team were busy making sure the event ran smoothly, even when medical support was required.
